The race to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has now begun: it is a certain fact that all the houses are currently working to offer their first device to offer the latest release of the green robot. In recent days, rumors have spread around the web of a possible LG Optimus U1 , smartphones also based on ICS, but do not yet know whether this is a fake or not. Today, another voice has not been confirmed also speaks of a device capable of running Android 4.0, but the house in question would be the nippo-Swedish Sony Ericsson.The product in question is called for now Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD due to its main feature, ie a display with a resolution of 720p HD (1280 x 720 pixels), just like on the Samsung Nexus Google Galaxy.

Try the new versions of Google and Google Music +

Available until now, Google applications and Google Music + we will offer you, are those that will be theoretically pre-installed with the next version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Both applications have been broadly reviewed, in order to provide an interface more accessible and comfortable to use.
It is version 4.0.1 for the Google Music with a nice refresh of the interface that is close enough mind Ice Cream Sandwich. Particularly with the new tab, clickable icons on the slopes and the shortcuts of the music played changed, "read" and "next song" were deleted in favor of "research." The bubble that appears press and hold on a song or artist has been changed, removing the ability to select the music available in offline mode (offline) ... Apart from that, the player interface is also seen refreshes, with the ability to love or not listened to the songs in the album, to listen more or less often the track in question.

Google has released some very smart updates to Google Reader application in Android. These updates come with some new home screen widgets as a widget has not read, a news ticker widget, and more.
Account Use unread Widget, users can get a peak reading of a particular food, the label or a person you are following. And using the News Ticker widget can read articles from a specific source of a horizontal widget.

Alcatel One Touch has just announced a series of mobile phones at Mobile World Congress, with the aim of making Android accessible and easy to use. The upcoming Alcatel OT-990 is the company’s flagship handset, and the leading member of its “Get Apps” range. The One Touch 990 handset has a 3.5 inch screen, runs on Android 2.2 OS, and has a 5-megapixel snapper onboard.

Google Goggles for Android and iOS Updated: Faster, Smarter, Solves Sudoku

The Google Goggles client for Android has gotten an update to version 1.3 today, along with the Goggles component of the iPhone’s Google Mobile App and the new version brings along a whole lotta nicies!
For one thing, there’s almost instant scanning of barcodes now:
BarcodesWhen shopping offline, it’s helpful to be able to learn more about a product by scanning its barcode. With the new Android version of Google Goggles, scanning barcodes is much faster. Open Goggles and hover over the barcode or QR code. Within a second the phone gently vibrates and presents results, without requiring a button press. Simply tap on the result to read product reviews, check in-store availability and compare prices.
Goggles can now also take a picture of print ads, and give you web search results for it. Very cool!
Print ads in magazines and newspapersWe’re excited to take another step in our vision of connecting offline media to online media. The next time you’re flipping through the pages of your favorite magazine, try taking a picture of an ad with Goggles. Goggles will recognize print ad and return web search results about the product or brand. This new feature of Goggles is enabled for print ads appearing in major U.S. magazines and newspapers from August 2010 onwards.
And best of all, if you’re a Sudoku fan, Goggles can now solve sudoku too!
Now, Goggles on Android and iPhone can recognize puzzles and provide answers to help make you faster than a Sudoku champ. So if you ever get stuck, take a clear picture of the entire puzzle with Goggles and we’ll tell you the correct solution. Check out this video to see how it works.

Nexus One is one of the worst tech fail of 2010

Guess who else made it to CNN’s top ten tech fail of the year 2010? Nexus One. But the question which arises is this, does the first Google branded handset deserve to be in top tech failures list. Before we answer this question, I think it makes sense to determine why CNN chose to include Nexus One in the not so proud list of failures, in which iPhone 4 antennagate leads the sinking ship.
Nexus One’s name was taken because of the unusual sales model (sell online) that Google adopted :

Digitimes is up to its rumor sharing ways yet again. This time the Taiwanese blog is sharing a speculated release date for Gingerbread’s successor, Honeycomb. According to Digitimes, Google’s first tablet friendly OS will be released to the masses in March 2011.
Digitimes, while talking about MSI’s tablet lineup for the upcoming CES 2011, unveiled the release date for the Android 2.3 sucessor:
On the other hand, MSI is set to display its 10-inch Wintel-based tablet PC as well as engineering samples of its ARM-based Google Android model. MSI is also prepared to sell an Nvidia Tegra 2-based model in April or May after Google releases Android 3.0 in March.

Google: Nexus One getting Gingerbread in the coming weeks

Ever since Nexus S went live, Nexus One users had only one thing in one mind – when will we get the Gingerbread OTA update we were promised? We now have the official answer to this very important question. According to a tweet posted by GoogleNexus, Nexus One will be getting the Android 2.3 OTA in the coming weeks.
Since Google knows you are waiting anxiously and impatiently for the update, it wants you to take a chill pill and wait for your share of the pie. Here’s the tweet:

Google does not slow down the pace and now offers Google Chrome 10 in the development branch of their browser. A version number that changes every now about 6 weeks and no longer means anything, even if it offers a small smile when we see that the firm of Mountain View is worth noting that this is exactly the version 10.0.612.1 [dev 10.0 - 33.2 MB - Mac OS X 10.5].

The guys at Slashgear unboxes the Google Nexus S. The Google Nexus S is a Samsung manufactured smartphone, and is the first handset to run Android 2.3, which offers VoIP and NFC support. It is also the first mobile phone to launch with a Contour Display, allowing the 4 inch touchscreen to sit comfortably along the side of your face. The Nexus S features a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video, alongside a built-in media player. For all of your Internet needs, the handset packs HSDPA and WiFi connectivity and an integrated browser. This Quad band phone also offers a 1GHz processor, built-in GPS and a 1500mAh Lithium battery.

The Samsung Nexus S running Google’s newest mobile platform, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, is available for preorder with U.K. eTailer Carphone Warehouse. The phone is available for free on 24-month, £35-a-month deals with all of the operators and for £20 ($31) a month you can expect to pay between £219.99 ($347) and £249.99 ($395) for the device. And, it does indeed cost £549.99 SIM-free or on pay as you go. Officially scheduled for launch on December 16 in the U.S. and rumored for December 20 in the U.K. Carphone Warehouse is now offering up pre-orders of Samsung’s latest and greatest on: O2, Orange, T-Mobile UK, Vodafone

Nexus One getting Gingerbread in few weeks time

When Google announced Gingerbread, Nexus One users would have been anticipating Android 2.3 update for their handset. Engadget and other blogs reported of the Android update hitting the Nexus handsets which were not correct. This prompted Reto Meier, an Android Developer Advocate at Google to clarify the whole situation.

We were expecting Gingerbread to get an official announcement today and official announcement is exactly what it has got. That’s right folks, Google has finally broken the silence about the Android 2.3 and has given the firmware the official launched it deserved and needed.
Here’s what Gingerbread brings to the table:

Motorola to jump on the Tegra 2 bandwagon with Honeycomb tablet?

Dual-core processors are one of the next wave of hardware improvements to hit the mobile platform. While several manufacturers have dual-core processors under development, NVIDIA and its Tegra 2 processor may be the first to dual-core hardware to land in consumer devices. According to DigiTimes, Motorola, LG, and HTC have all placed orders with NVIDIA for Tegra 2-equipped devices.
LG recently confirmed that it will use the Tegra 2 processor in its upcoming line of high-end Optimus devices which include both smartphones and at least one tablet device. One of LG’s first dual-core smartphones, the LG Star, was spotted and partially detailed earlier this week. DigiTimes hints that NVIDIA’s dual-core processor may also land in LG’s Optimus-branded slate device, the Optimus Pad.

Google Docs has finally started rolling out support for mobile editing of Google Docs on smartphone platforms like Android OS and iOS! As the defacto cloud-based document collaboration tool of choice among enterprise and consumers alike, Google Docs has become something of a ubiquitous service for many.
