Android 2.3 Gingerbread Ported to Samsung Galaxy Spica

After looking at the performance of Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Google’s Nexus S, many developers developed custom builds of the new Android OS to bring same performance and experience on other devices. Now, a developer at samdroid forum has ported Android 2.3 to Samsung Galaxy Spica.

Since Android 2.3 OS is quite new to everyone, including developers, they will need some time to develop fully functional custom Gingerbread OS for Android phones. Android 2.3 for Samsung Galaxy Spica is still in its Alpha stage, and doesn’t support most of the features.

Here’s the list of features that are not working on Samsung Galaxy Spica -
  • Audio
  • GSM (GPRS/3G)
  • GPS
  • Sensors
  • Wi Fi
  • SD Card
  • Camera
If you’re looking to try this Gingerbread OS on your phone, please note that you will find many bugs and errors, and it could also brick your device. Try it at your own risk.

Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Samsung Galaxy Spica

  2. Put it to SD card
  3. Enter to Recovery
  4. Wipe data & cache!
  5. Apply Gingerbread4Spica_v0.1alpha1.zip
  6. Reboot
