HTC Ville specifications leak, will run Ice Cream Sandwich

BGR has received information on HTC's upcoming Android smartphone. The device will be officially announced at next year's Mobile World Congress along with the HTC Edge.
The HTC Ville, as is its codename, will be HTC's first phone that will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. But that's not the only version 4.0 software it will be running. It will also be the first phone to run on HTC's upcoming Sense UI 4.0. This may cause some people to cringe but there is no getting away from the fact that custom skins are here to stay and one of the ways Android manufacturers differentiate themselves from one another.

Google Docs for Android updated with better support for Honeycomb tablets

Google has updated its Google Docs app for Android to make it look better on Honeycomb tablets. The application is said to have an “entirely new design” that takes advantage of the larger screen space on tablets. The layout now consists of three panels, including filters and collections, document list, and document details. From here you will be able to see a thumbnail to preview a document and all of its details (i.e. who can view or edit a document) before opening it.

Moreover, this release also brings improved sharing experience with auto-complete, support for both landscape and portrait modes, and improved video playback. Finally, these new features are also translated in 46 languages.

Android Ice-Cream Sandwich Coming Late October. OMAP 4 Devices to Get It First?

Remember Notion Ink? Well their CEO, Rhan Shravan, says that Android Ice-Cream Sandwich is coming out late October, and we should probably believe him, because he’s the one who also told us about Gingerbread a few days before it launched last year. He casually mentions this in one of his blog posts, saying ICS will come out late October, and their Adam tablet will get the update in November.

Now, their Adam tablet is based on Tegra 2, but he confirms that ICS’ chip of choice will be the OMAP 4, but that either means there will be an update for Tegra 2 and Kal-EL devices later, or it should already work on Tegra 2 devices at least, since it’s supposed to be based on the Honeycomb code, and all Honeycomb devices already have the drivers for Tegra 2.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread Emerges in Official Video

Engadget has got hold of an official Google video that showcases voice search in Android 2.3 Gingerbread
running on the Nexus One. The video is explaining the benefits of using Google’s voice search feature on Android devices, such as finding some of the best restaurants in a specific location. There aren’t too many visual differences between Android 2.2 and Android 2.3: the status tray is now black, the launcher is slightly tweaked, and some buttons are restyled.
The handset on which Google Voice Search is being demonstrated seems to be Nexus One, while the Gingerbread elements that can be seen there include a black status tray with new icons, as well as a somehow tweaked launcher bar placed at the bottom of the home screen. Video can be seen after the jump. You will notice the difference in the hanged buttons in Settings options and an additional tab on the Android Market App titled Related.
