LG Optimus Chic Review on PhoneArena

LG Optimus Chic Review on PhoneArena: “The LG Optimus Chic was one of the two handsets announced simultaneously in the first press release about the Optimus line, and its alleged virtues were that it will look good, and run Android 2.2 from the start. Well, fast forward a few months, and the Froyo-blessed handset is in our hands for a review, so let’s give it a chance to prove just how chic it is…Design:The streamlined design of the LG Optimus Chic is indeed a looker – entirely black with a chrome-like rim surrounding the phone is always classy. There are no sharp edges, just smooth curves both in the corners, and on the back. The plastic feels a bit cheap, we’ve come to expect soft-touch coating in well designed handsets, but we guess LG wanted to keep the phone glossy all around, so as to justify the “Chic” moniker

Nokia C6-00 Review on Recombu

Nokia C6-00 Review on Recombu: “Confusingly, there are two Nokia C6 phones released this year. This one is the Nokia C6-00 (to give it its full title) and it comes with a 5-megapixel camera, a slide out Qwerty keypad and a 3.2-inch touchscreen. What we like. Everything about the Nokia C6-00 feels solid from the moment you take it out of the box. The Qwerty keypad snaps open defiantly and clicks neatly into place when you close it. It’s reassuringly weighty and the back of the phone has a matte finish that’s pleasant to the touch and provides a measure of grip.
This however isn’t a huge problem as there’s a virtual shutter key you can use instead. But taking pictures this way detracts from that ‘genuine camera feel’ that you get from pressing down on a real shutter key.

Sonny Ericsson A8i – Review on GSMPress

Sonny Ericsson A8i – Review on GSMPress: “Recently, Sony Ericsson has decided to conquer the Chinese market, or rather, it is already conquering it with the new A8i phone model. These latest phone models have an indisputable advantage: the support of TD-SCDMA networks. The device has an OMS 2.0 operating system. It is very good and fast. According to the producer, Sonny Ericsson A8i has a stylish, slightly curved design. You can choose black or white one, depending on your preferences. The phone’s dimensions make it really compact and attractive; just 117x59x14 mm. and 136 grams. So, judging its lightness, it should be as comfortable as you’d ever like.

What we have is a solid device that feels like a well-rounded pebble. The navigation buttons are on the front below the screen as usual. A toggle button is on the right while a headset jack and the power on/off button is also on the top of the device. A micro USB port is at the bottom of the phone and the data cable plugs in here to transfer loads of goodies from your own desktop PC. The data cable also plugs into the charger head and therefore it can charge the phone either from the power point on the wall or when plugged into a live USB drive on a computer or a laptop. Apple replacing New and Serviced iPhone 4 screws with Torx screws

Apparently Apple isnt too pleased about people using White iPhone 4 parts on their Black iPhones.
If you’ve recently gotten your iPhone 4 serviced, you might have been one of the unlucky ones to notice that the screw by the connector is now a 5-Point Torx screw. If you’re not big on the modding scene, this isnt a big deal but if you are, then you’ll have to be a lot more careful.

Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 (Verizon Wireless) Review on CNet

Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 (Verizon Wireless) Review on CNet: “The Samsung Gusto SCH-U360 is cheap and cheerful, and that’s not a bad thing. It offers quality voice calls, compatibility with VZ Navigator, and that’s pretty much about it. Even the camera is sub-par. If you only need the basics, the Gusto is OK. But you can do better by paying a little more, or by looking for higher-quality older handsets that have now been discounted down to free. Design and Call Quality: The Gusto measures 4.0 by 1.9 by 0.6 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.3 ounces. It’s made entirely of matte and glossy plastics, with a faux metal texture on the front, and a slightly smoother one on the back panel. It feels low-rent. The internal 2-inch screen offers just 128-by-160-pixel resolution, while the external 1.1-inch screen is 96-by-96.

Samsung Contour SCH-R250 – red (MetroPCS) Review on CNet

Samsung Contour SCH-R250 – red (MetroPCS) Review on CNet: “The Samsung Contour (SCH-R250) is a basic phone by any standard, but as we’ve said time and again, for anyone interested in making phone calls and little else, simple is just the ticket. It’s certainly far more bare-bones than another contemporary clamshell, the Samsung SPH-M360 for Sprint. We weren’t impressed by the Contour’s low VGA camera resolution, but MetroPCS stocks the candy-apple-red flip phone with a handful of useful apps like instant messaging, e-mail, and driving directions. While it’s technically 3G, MetroPCS’ markets for the most part offer 2.5G speeds, with the exception of Detroit and Dallas/Fort Worth. The Contour costs $49 without a contract.

Nokia C6-01 review on GSmArena

Nokia C6-01 review on GSmArena: “The Nokia C6-01 comes in as a reasonably priced and well-built smartphone with great all-round connectivity and a unique feature to set it apart from rivals. The ClearBlack display can actually give Nokia quite an edge if it lives up to the expectations. The Nokia C6-01 has got a tall task on its hands. It comes to replace an iconic phone like the 5800 XpressMusic. The Nokia 5800 (despite all its imperfections) introduced Nokia to the touchscreen game with a winning move but now it’s time for it to bow out of the way with dignity. One bestseller out – the next one in. The next generation is here and we’re happy to greet the Nokia C6-01. Let’s start with a quick check-up.

Nokia Ovi Store now has Three Million Downloads In Day

Nokia announced a new Milestone for the Ovi Store yesterday. There’s now more than 3 Million downloads per day.

With about 18,000 content titles currently available in the Ovi Store, this bit of news comes just over two months after the 2 million daily download mark was reached. Admittedly, this is quite a rapid growth rate, that shows no signs of slowing down. With interest in Symbian (very) slowly building back up on both the developer side and user side, and MeeGo incoming, it looks like the success of the Ovi Store might be a sure thing, afterall.
