Sony Ericsson – No Windows Phone 7 phones coming

Sony Ericsson has officially stated that they do not have any Windows Phone 7 devices being worked on right now, putting an end to several rumours that have stated so.

While we would have liked to see some Xperia style devices running Windows Phone 7, it doesnt look like this will happen any time soon.
Sony Ericsson France CEO Pierre Perron stated that they are in talks with Microsoft about licensing the operating system, but have no serious plans to put out a WP7 device.

“With Windows 7 we run the risk of standardising our smartphones. We would be obliged to compete only on design on price, which we want to avoid”, he told Les Echos.
Guess that’s it folks. Strange decision considering both LG and Samsung have Windows Phone 7 devices in the pipeline, and are big competitors to SE.
