BlackBerry 8980 Exposed by the FCC

The FCC has posted on its website images and details of the BlackBerry 8980, an unannounced model from RIM. The device is presumed to be a successor to the Curve 8900. The Curve 8980 features almost the same specs, but has picked up WirelessN connectivity and an optical trackpad instead of a regular trackball. The 8980 hits the market in early 2009 and will apparently ship with BlackBerry OS 5, not the newer OS 6 version.

The rest of the specs are quite familiar – 2.4-inch display 480 x 360 screen, QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 megapixel snapper, GPS and microSD card slot. The 8980 brings the regular

quad-band GSM cellular radio and full connectivity options via 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth. Similar to its predecessor, the new Curve 8980 also lacks 3G connectivity. The remain is still unknow.
