Google announces Gingerbread, the fastest Android version to date

We were expecting Gingerbread to get an official announcement today and official announcement is exactly what it has got. That’s right folks, Google has finally broken the silence about the Android 2.3 and has given the firmware the official launched it deserved and needed.

Here’s what Gingerbread brings to the table:
Gingerbread is the fastest version of Android yet, and it delivers a number of improvements, such as user interface refinements, NFC support, a new keyboard and text selection tool, Internet (VoIP/SIP) calling, improved copy/paste functionality and gyroscope sensor support.

Nexus S will be the first Gingerbread handset and will go live starting from 16th December.
