Skype prepares video chat on iPhone

Skype could announce at CES the advent of video on his client for the iPhone. This feature, reported by Engadget, is widely detailed in a help page Mobile version of Skype hosted by and linked to the Skype application for mobile phones sold by Verizon (page has since withdrawn, but still available at the time of writing this article).

The description mentions compatibility with iPhone 4, 3G, 3G and iPad while noting, of course, that the aircraft must be equipped with a camera if you want to be seen with his contacts. Opposite, the caller must use Skype for iPhone 3.0, the 2.8 minimum for Mac OS X 2.8 or 4.2 for Windows. Currently, Skype on iPhone is version 2.1.2.
The video call function as much on 3G iPhone in wireless side (4) it will be possible to switch between the camera back and front, as the FaceTime and switch to landscape mode. The note goes to point out that the iPhone may become warm during a video call "in the same manner as when using video applications to YouTube or Netflix. "

If your friend is on Mac OS X or Windows, you may send the image of his screen. But the reverse in this sharing feature is not true. And video-conferencing is not more support, this works only audio.

Engadget says that Skype has already warned that a series of ads around the video conference was scheduled at the upcoming CES in Las Vegas beginning Jan. 6.
