CES 2011: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc goes official

Gagadget, Russian site, has got the press pictures and a promo video of the unannounced Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. The arc is a thin profile, arc-styled slab handset measuring just 8.7mm in thickness at its thinnest point, yet it still offers an extra wide 4.2-inch FWVGA capacitive multi-touch display for web browsing and video playback. The Xperia arc will be featured with Sony’s 2.3 Xperia Technology interface skinned atop Android 2.3 Gingerbread when released.

This smartphone will feature Sony’s proprietary Mobile BRAVIA technology that promises upscaling of the visuals with enhanced clarity and brightness. Inside the chassis, Xperia arc has a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapgradon processor that will make Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread update with SE Timescape UI run zippier. There are also a bunch of Google Android Apps like Maps with Street View, Talk, Latitude, and more. For its camera, the Xperia arc will have an 8.1MP on the back, featuring Sony’s Exmor R photo-enhancing technology. Though Xperia arc would be capable of shooting 1080p HD video technically, you can record 720p HD video. Internal phone memory is a mere 512MB but has an 8GB microSD card bundled. You can add up to 32GB microSD card.
Apart form having auto-rotate and wall paper animation functions, arc offers Document readers and supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Xperia arc is Digital Living Network Alliance certified and hence usable with DLNA electronics. Arc also offers HDMI port for connecting it to a HD TV. Longer battery life is promised with the 1500mAh battery. This phone will debut globally in two select colors, either Midnight Blue or Misty Silver
