CyanogenMod 7.1 Released; Brings Android 2.3.7 To 68 Devices!

To 68 Devices!  Huge news from CyanogenMod’s side. CM 7.1 in its Stable Form has released officially for an array of devices. Originally supposed to be released at an Android BBQ Event last month, it get delayed due to some technical snags. However, stable Android 2.3.7 is now available.

  • Samsung Galaxy S
  • Samsung Galaxy S 2
  • Sony Ericsson  X8
  • Sony Ericsson XPERIA Mini and XPERIA Mini Pro
  • Sony Ericsson Arc
  • Motorola Defy
  • LG Optimus 2X
  • HTC Desire S
Also devices like the HTC Sensation, EVO 3D and HP Touchpad will soon get nightly versions now.
From year old devices like the X8 and the Moto Backflip, to recently launched devices like the SGS2 and Optimus 2X, all will run the same OS with the same functions. We think this is awesome and was what people expected when Android came about. It goes without saying that it greatly improves the experience on the device.
CyanogenMod has been getting a lot of support from Mobile Phone Companies off late. First, their founder Steve Kondik was offered a job at Samsung, which he took. Then, Sony Ericsson gave them 20 of their devices to help develop ROM’s for as part of their FreeXPERIA campaign.
So what are you waiting for? Head on over to their website and see if your device is supported!
